The Collection is a 5 year retrospective survey of the inception of Mokelu Pictures. With an emphasis of creating authentic and diverse stories, Mokelu Pictures has expanded its catalog from films, series, music videos and clothing campaigns.
Background
Founder and Creative Director Samuel Mokelu founded Mokelu Pictures November 1st 2020. With his background in visual art and past production company Team Broski Ent, Samuel learned storytelling with the resources available to him. Carving a path for not only himself but artists alike, Samuel aims for Mokelu Pictures to have a curated catalog of films and Tv series that leave a cultural impact and inspire the next generation of storytellers.
A Christmas Noir (2021)
Inspired by Tyler The Creators Grinch Ep is a story of two people forming a bond during the holiday season. This short film was selection in the Indie Short Fest in 2021.
MISFITS: THE SERIES (2021-2024)
Created by Samuel Mokelu, MISFITS explored the individual lives of young black adults and how it affected the group while living in Los Angeles. This series was selected in the Hollywood Monthly Film Festival in 2022.
The Family BBQ (2024)
A short film reflecting mental health and how it shifts the dynamics of a family. A father and son have an honest conversation. First film to reach over 3,000 views on our Youtube channel.
AFTER DARK (2025)
Horror anthology series based in the 80's during the rise of the sex hotline industry.
